Just when we thought it was beginning to slow every time we get a break in the weather Tuna are still being caught
sure they are a little mor patchy and not as big as earlier in the season (10 to 12kg will pull them up) they are still there and a great option on light gear
so put the 15s and 24s away and have a crack at them on 6to 8 kg geear and even you snapper outfits
big fish are still (as late as last week) coming in from Appollo Bay with a 105kg (cleaned) specimen last week

Port Fairy Portland and Port Mac
whats all the fuss about hahaha
with one of the best runs of tuna starting way back in Jan right through to now the fishing has been nothing short of WORLD CLASS
local accomodation has been booked solid and the ramp has never been busier
tuna from 60 to 120 kg have been caught and the average size seems to be around the 30 kg mark
solid albacore to 20kg have also been taken along with some fantastic bottom dwellers such as blue eye to 7 kg

VSF and B.S.G.F.C member Bec adds to her impressive game fishing reume with her first SBT and now boasts 4 tuna species to go with her billfish and shark captures
Western Vic holiday period
From Geelong to Portland there are many options and the fishing has been very good to excellent in many areas
apollo bay is producing salmon big flatties and the odd snapper from the offshore reefs and i wont be long before the offshre fishing really picks up
Portlands amazing run of Tuna continues with some brute to 100+ kg and the average fish around the 30kg Mark
The Lee breakwall is also woth a look with snapper flathead couta and other reef species being caught
The Nelson river is producing bream mullet and the odd mulloway to 10kgs and better fish are expected

The lee Breakwall at protland seems to be the pick for landbased anglers and the inshore reefs out from Port Fairy and around Lady Julia Percy also fshing realy well
Western Vic fishing in its Prime
With a solid run of Southern Bluefin Tuna Out from Portland and Port Mac as well as some quality reef fish things are Really Buzzing in the Western Districts
Southern blufin to 70kgs have been taken on the shelf west of Portland and quality Albacore have been mixed in there too. Whilst the warmer water is still a tad away things are looking up for a strong season going well into June
The inshore reefs have also produced the Odd kingfish Morwong Snapper and the smaller table fare like leatherjackets
The Warnambool Area has also seen some excellent reef fish
I was lucky enough to fish both Portland and Port mac Recently and have been lucky enough to get some lovely SBT and albacore
The antspants and Gazz got a lovely SBT whilst Johnbob (onboard rodfest) got a heap of albacore and a lovely mako of just a tick over 70kg
