Snapper are fishing well and some early season Whitying are showing in both the very south and Very north

Whilst squid numbers are not as high as at other times the size is well and trully making up for it

Best snapper areas have been Lysaughts Joes island (tooradin side) mouth of tooradin channel Crawfish Corinella (corals) and fish are even showing around silverleaves already

The XOS squid about ATM seem to have a likeing for low light conditions

Update June 30

This week end saw the very first LIVE RELEASE squid tournament (australian EGI Tournament) and even though conditions were tough due to wind and water quality some of the states Best fishos slugged it out over 2 daus in up to 30 knot northerlies

most squid came from the Tyabb and qual bank area

results as follows

Big Squid was taken out by Little hooker with a 1.590kg squid

snapper (pinkies)  are fishing well around Joes island, Observation point and straight out from Stony as well as out the front of the Rhyll Channel

bag limit catches are being taken regularly but he evening light change has been the pick

John Lindholm of KL Charters reports whiting are biting well along the middle spit and soputh of sandstone island and up around the tooradin channel

Squid have been good around flinders and cat bay

a 50kg Bronze whaler was taken by members of the WPAC snapper fishing off Observation point

 

Squid have also been good off Sandstone island and the tug channel
